About The Position

Kalmbach Feeds, Inc. is seeking a reliable Logistics and Freight intern to establish daily trucking routes, negotiate quotes that maximize savings and reduce costs, and build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers. The role requires a perceptive, detail-oriented person who can relate to individuals at all levels and respond sensitively to customer needs, corporate goals, team member goodwill, and the company’s public image. The intern will work with LTL, FTL, and intermodal carriers; build relationships and negotiate competitive rates; cultivate relationships with customers who use freight coordination services; and learn route creation and load scheduling in an agricultural business. Candidates must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s degree program and demonstrate strong communication, organization, professionalism, customer service, critical thinking, teamwork, and willingness to learn.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program working toward a degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage timelines and stay organized.
Conduct business professionally, respond to customers in a timely manner, and demonstrate strong attention to detail and investigation skills.
Ability to apply critical thinking to complex situations.
Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment and build business acumen.
Experience with Windows-based software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work in a team environment in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

Work closely with LTL, FTL, and intermodal carriers.
