About The Position

Coordinates inbound and outbound logistics activities, with primary responsibility for scheduling and coordinating outbound shipments and support for the receiving of raw materials, including ingredients and packaging. Coordinates internal shuttles between the Hager and Woodrow facilities while ensuring accurate logistics documentation, inventory transactions, and communication between internal departments, customers, and carriers. Complies with all safety, food safety, quality, SQF, GMP, and USDA requirements and provides backup assistance to other department personnel as business needs dictate.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is typically required.
  • Previous forklift and material handling experience is required.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be highly motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and accurately complete documents such as Bills of Lading, packing slips, shipping and receiving documentation, operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Must communicate effectively with carriers, customers, suppliers, and internal partners to coordinate shipments, resolve issues, and ensure timely movement of materials.
  • Ability to train partners on shipping and receiving processes is required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Must possess accurate basic mathematical skills with the ability to calculate quantities, verify shipment information, reconcile inventory transactions, and interpret basic reports.
  • Must be able to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to prioritize work, coordinate multiple shipments, resolve transportation and receiving issues, and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to interpret written and verbal instructions and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the partner is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or operate office and warehouse equipment, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The position requires frequent computer use, occasional movement throughout the warehouse and shipping areas, and the ability to communicate effectively with partners and drivers.
  • The partner may occasionally be required to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in logistics, shipping, warehouse operations, inventory control, or a related manufacturing environment is preferred, ideally within a USDA-regulated food manufacturing facility.
  • Experience coordinating shipments, transportation schedules, inventory transactions, or receiving activities is preferred.
  • Experience with lot tracking, inventory transactions, and product traceability is preferred.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems for shipping, receiving, inventory transactions, and order management is preferred.
  • Experience with barcode scanning systems and warehouse management software is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule inbound and outbound trucks daily.
  • Perform all activities related to product and material shipments into and out of the company, including recordkeeping, reporting, tracking, and documentation.
  • Check in inbound and outbound drivers and assist with shipping and receiving activities as needed.
  • Create and maintain Sales Orders to align with production and transportation schedules. Communicate any necessary changes to customers, carriers, and internal partners.
  • Schedule outbound FedEx and UPS shipments.
  • Schedule intercompany shuttles between the Woodrow and Hager facilities and communicate schedules to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate the receipt of inbound raw materials, including packaging and ingredients, ensuring receiving documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for Salm product shipments to external warehouses.
  • Resolve receiving discrepancies related to inbound raw materials, including packaging and ingredients, by working with Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality, and suppliers as needed.
  • Communicate proactively with carriers, customers, and internal departments to resolve shipping issues, scheduling conflicts, and transportation delays.
  • Provide backup assistance to the Expeditors when needed.
  • Provide direction and communicate regularly with Yard Support, including coordinating with the yard driver regarding load readiness and daily priorities.
  • Support inventory accuracy by ensuring shipping and receiving transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support and participate in the Lean Manufacturing initiatives of the company.
  • Support and participate in the safety initiatives of the organization.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations in accordance with established company policies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
