About The Position

Mitchell Plastics is seeking a proactive Logistics - Buyer/Planner to connect automotive suppliers with the production floor and help keep manufacturing operations running smoothly. The role is responsible for sourcing raw materials, production components, and MRO items; processing and expediting purchases; and supporting on-time production and customer shipments. The Buyer/Planner also develops and evaluates suppliers, maintains inventory accuracy and appropriate stock levels, collaborates with internal teams, and ensures purchasing activities meet IATF 16949 automotive and quality standards.

Requirements

At least 2 years of hands-on experience in purchasing or procurement, or a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Management or a related field.
Understanding of automotive supplier expectations, single- and multi-level Bills of Material (BOM), and Quality/Environmental Management Systems.
Familiarity with purchasing functions, including quotes, contracts, and terms, as well as production control, scheduling, and inventory management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational skills and natural leadership or supervisory qualities.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with vendors and senior management.

Nice To Haves

Completion of PMAC “Principles of Buying,” APICS Basics of Supply Chain Management, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Secure high-quality raw materials, production components, and MRO items from assigned suppliers.
Process spot buys and purchase orders efficiently.
Expedite critical materials to prevent factory downtime and support on-time customer shipments.
Guide and develop vendors, evaluating their costs, lead times, and performance.
Maintain an approved supplier list.
Maintain optimal inventory levels and lead regular cycle counts and audits in Plex.
Collaborate with production supervisors, scheduling, customer service, and engineering to streamline approvals and logistics.
Ensure purchasing workflows comply with IATF 16949 automotive and quality standards.
