About The Position

This position involves direct involvement with specific departments to support the accurate receiving, distribution, and transportation of materials. The role is responsible for the daily movement of essential patient direct and non-direct related items throughout Mayo Clinic, adhering to standards for professionalism, safety, security, and productivity. The associate will deliver various items including patient specimens, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, surgical implants, medical scopes, patient histories, staff educational material, inter-clinic mail, USPS mail, USPS packages under 50lbs., and nuclear medicine materials. The position requires high-level problem-solving skills to address issues with unreceived or delayed materials, collaborating with the supervisor and affected work units for solutions. The associate must sustain and comply with a broad range of policies and governmental regulations, and assist with projects and new employee training as directed by management. Responsibilities also include timely processing of incoming calls and requests for deliveries, monitoring and updating the tracking system for timely deliveries, and working varied hours which may include days, evenings, holidays, and weekends with rotating days off. This is a Limited Tenure position, meaning employment will be terminated at an established end date (approximately 24 months from hire). While in this role, the employee will be categorized as a regular employee but must commit to staying until the end of the tenure before becoming eligible to transfer. After the limited tenure assignment, it is the employee's responsibility to secure another role within Mayo Clinic, or employment will end.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Two years of hospital, customer service, or business-related experience preferred.
  • Valid MN Driver’s License for driving requests as applicable and an excellent driving record.

  • Regular lifting/carrying (up to 50 pounds).
  • Walking distances over 12 miles daily.
