About The Position

Weyerhaeuser’s Olympia Log Yard is hiring a Log Scaler. We are seeking individuals who desire to work in a customer driven, market-focused, log export facility while maintaining a positive attitude and work ethic. This is a union position. The workforce is represented by the International Association of Machinists (IAM).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• The ability to work safely, including strict adherence to log yard safety procedures, taking the personal initiative to always work safely, contributing to the safety of your team members, and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Knowledge and experience as a log scaler is required.
• Experience with sorting specifications, species identification and using handheld electronic scaling devices.
• Must have excellent listening and communication skills; ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Must be team oriented, working successfully with others and contributing to a positive and productive working environment.
• Ability to work overtime as operating conditions require.
• Ability to perform the essential job functions such as bending, stooping, reaching overhead, lifting, stepping over/around object in the yard, and climbing up on equipment.
• Must complete a successful post-offer physical exam, drug screen and background check.
• This position is designated by WY as a safety-sensitive position. You will be subject to pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites.
