About The Position

Weyerhaeuser’s Olympia Log Yard is hiring a Log Scaler. We are seeking individuals who desire to work in a customer driven, market-focused, log export facility while maintaining a positive attitude and work ethic. This is a union position. The workforce is represented by the International Association of Machinists (IAM). The facility operates under a small crew flow-to-work concept and requires that all employees can do all activities and willing to change job assignments as needed. This position is designated by WY as a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work safely, including strict adherence to log yard safety procedures, taking the personal initiative to always work safely, contributing to the safety of your team members, and maintaining a safe work environment
• Knowledge and experience as a log scaler is required
• Experience with sorting specifications, species identification and using handheld electronic scaling devices
• Excellent listening and communication skills
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Team oriented, working successfully with others and contributing to a positive and productive working environment
• Ability to work overtime as operating conditions require
• Ability to perform the essential job functions such as bending, stooping, reaching overhead, lifting, stepping over/around object in the yard, and climbing up on equipment
• Must complete a successful post-offer physical exam, drug screen and background check
• Pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites
