About The Position

Position is required to deploy to Antarctica from mid-August to end of February. Performs a variety of detailed lodging duties, manages lodging and janitorial staff. Responsibilities include overseeing lodging of United States Antarctic Program (USAP) participants, ensuring the agreed upon station common areas are cleaned to client standards, providing project management support to the Program Manager as needed, and participating and assisting in recruiting activities as required by the HR Manager & Program Manager. The Lodging Supervisor is a champion of Gana-A'Yoo, Limited and subsidiaries to the National Science Foundation (NSF), Leidos and USAP participants.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required. College Degree preferred.
  • ServSafe certification required to be obtained prior to first day of employment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in operational management, staff management
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, and have above average computer literacy in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt changes as needed
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to effectively motivate, direct and lead employees
  • Ability to identify and prioritize operational needs and assign/delegate appropriate resources to those needs
  • A high energy level and sense of urgency in carrying out assigned tasks
  • US citizenship or permanent residency required
  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica required

Nice To Haves

  • PMP preferred.
  • Knowledge of advanced Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace
  • Encourage open communication across business units to achieve goals and resolve issues
  • Understands and utilizes project management communication guidelines
  • Assists Program Manager and colleagues in executing at a high level all Statement of Work (SOW) objectives and requirements.
  • Responsible for allocating USAP participants to rooms in a fair and impartial manner and for room check in and check out
  • Responsible for coordinating with GSC Program Manager, Leidos and NSF on the development and implementation of lodging & janitorial policies and procedures
  • Responsible for coordinating with Culinary Manager and other GSC managers on shared resources
  • Must be able to prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports and documents on a variety of topics, to include station occupancy levels, standard operating procedures (SOPs), situation reports, and miscellaneous projects
  • Responsible for recruiting and onboarding of lodging and janitorial teams, within a structured timeframe
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of lodging and janitorial team
  • Inspects work performed to ensure compliance to specifications and standards
  • Understands and complies with all ESS, GSC, ASC and Leidos policies and procedures
  • Handles confidential matters (personnel actions, management reports, etc.) in accordance with management policy
  • Responsible for ordering lodging and janitorial supplies within budget and schedule and reporting to Program Manager on ETC/EAC in material and labor
  • Complies with applicable safety, environmental, health, and waste management policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the training of lodging and janitorial personnel
  • Must be willing to work outside of regular work hours
  • Performs other duties as required
