This role requires a physician to provide sole provider coverage for both Emergency Medicine (EM) and Inpatient Medicine at a Critical Access Hospital. The position involves 24-hour shifts with 24/7 call coverage. Responsibilities are focused exclusively on the Emergency Department (ED) and the Inpatient floor, with no outpatient clinic duties. The average daily census on the medical floor is 4-6 patients, with an average length of stay of 1-3 days for acute/swing beds and 8-10 days for transitional care. The ED sees an average of 6-8 encounters daily, with an annual volume of approximately 2,500 - 2,700 visits. Morning rounds begin at 8 AM with an interdisciplinary team, and weekly rounds are conducted for swing bed patients. Patient diagnoses commonly include CHF, Cellulitis, COPD, and Gastrointestinal complaints. Subspecialty support is available via telemedicine in Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Infectious Diseases. The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is Thrive, facilitated by Trubridge. Ancillary services include Laboratory and Imaging.
