About The Position

This on-site contract position offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality surgical care in a collaborative environment within the Medical Practice industry. As a Locum General Surgeon, you will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive surgical services, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. Your role will involve working closely with a skilled team to address a variety of surgical needs, enhancing patient outcomes through effective interventions and follow-ups. This role involves providing ED and inpatient coverage, addressing practice-related clinical needs, and performing trauma and general surgery procedures. The position is located at a Level III Trauma Center and requires 24-hour call shifts on specific dates. The support staff includes RNs & OR staff, and the EMR system used is Epic.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution
  • Associate-level experience in General Surgery
  • Active medical license in the state of practice
  • Strong surgical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adept at working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered care
  • Must be board-certified
  • ATLS & BLS required
  • Basic call and trauma cases

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency response and critical care experience is a plus
  • DEA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients
  • Collaborate with nursing and support staff to ensure quality patient care
  • Conduct patient consultations to assess surgical needs
  • Document all patient interactions accurately and timely
  • Stay updated on surgical best practices and technological advancements
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss cases and treatment strategies
  • Foster a positive and professional relationship with patients and their families
  • Provide ED and inpatient coverage
