Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) General Surgery
About The Position
This on-site contract position offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality surgical care in a collaborative environment within the Medical Practice industry. As a Locum General Surgeon, you will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive surgical services, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. Your role will involve working closely with a skilled team to address a variety of surgical needs, enhancing patient outcomes through effective interventions and follow-ups. This role involves providing ED and inpatient coverage, addressing practice-related clinical needs, and performing trauma and general surgery procedures. The position is located at a Level III Trauma Center and requires 24-hour call shifts on specific dates. The support staff includes RNs & OR staff, and the EMR system used is Epic.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution
- Associate-level experience in General Surgery
- Active medical license in the state of practice
- Strong surgical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Adept at working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to providing patient-centered care
- Must be board-certified
- ATLS & BLS required
- Basic call and trauma cases
Nice To Haves
- Emergency response and critical care experience is a plus
- DEA preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform a range of surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients
- Collaborate with nursing and support staff to ensure quality patient care
- Conduct patient consultations to assess surgical needs
- Document all patient interactions accurately and timely
- Stay updated on surgical best practices and technological advancements
- Participate in team meetings to discuss cases and treatment strategies
- Foster a positive and professional relationship with patients and their families
- Provide ED and inpatient coverage
- Address practice-related clinical needs
- Perform trauma and general surgery procedures
