About The Position

As a Locum Emergency Medicine physician, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of emergency conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening illnesses. You will work closely with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the relevant state, or the ability to obtain one prior to start
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
  • Minimum of associate-level experience in emergency medicine or urgent care settings
  • Strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple patients simultaneously in a high-acuity environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered care
  • Valid DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances
  • Board certification required
  • BLS required

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
  • Perform thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and medical history reviews
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as lab work, imaging, and ECGs
  • Develop and implement timely treatment plans tailored to each patient's condition
  • Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate appropriate interventions
  • Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and ancillary staff to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care
  • Respond to medical emergencies within the facility and provide on-call coverage as needed
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to patient safety protocols
  • Maintain compliance with all medical, ethical, legal, and regulatory standards
