About The Position

This on-site, contract position offers an Associate-level physician the opportunity to deliver high-quality acute care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. As a locum tenens provider, you will play a vital role in ensuring continuous, reliable coverage for patients presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergent medical conditions. As a Locum MD/DO in Emergency Medicine, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients of all ages, managing trauma cases, and stabilizing critically ill individuals. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, specialists, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and optimal clinical outcomes. This role provides the flexibility and professional autonomy that locum physicians value, while offering meaningful exposure to a diverse patient population within the Medical Practice industry.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the applicable state, or the ability to obtain licensure prior to start
  • Associate-level experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or a comparable acute care setting
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and ATLS (PALS preferred)
  • Strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in emergency procedures, including intubation, central line placement, and resuscitation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective patient and team interaction
  • Ability to work flexible, on-site shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Valid DEA registration and ability to prescribe controlled substances
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in a high-volume environment
  • Comfort with electronic medical record systems and standard emergency department technology

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and trauma
  • Perform thorough patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and differential diagnosis
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as laboratory panels, imaging studies, and electrocardiograms
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including pharmacological interventions and emergency procedures
  • Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate timely transfers to higher-level care facilities when required
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and ancillary departments to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge instructions
  • Adhere to established clinical protocols, evidence-based guidelines, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs to enhance departmental performance
  • Respond rapidly to emergency codes, trauma activations, and critical care situations
  • Provide supervision and guidance to residents, medical students, and support personnel as needed
