Railserve is hiring a mechanically skilled Regional Traveling Locomotive Mechanic based in Ohio to maintain and repair locomotives throughout the region. The role helps ensure safe, reliable equipment is available to support customer operations. It includes scheduled, preventive, and emergency maintenance; diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems; and traveling to customer locations according to equipment and operational needs. It suits a mechanic who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, traveling to different locations, and taking ownership of equipment reliability. Locomotive experience is valuable, but training is available for mechanically experienced candidates. The schedule may vary with operational and customer needs. Regular travel throughout Ohio and surrounding areas is required, and nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required. Work takes place at multiple customer and Railserve locations, outdoors in varying weather, and around locomotives, moving machinery, tools, and industrial equipment. Conditions may include fumes, oils, diesel fuel, and elevated work areas. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring personal protective equipment and strict compliance with company and customer safety procedures. Company-provided tools and a vehicle may be used as applicable. Compensation is $25.00–$30.00 per hour or more depending on experience. Railserve describes itself as a provider of industrial railyard services across the United States and Canada and highlights safety, teamwork, operational excellence, employee development, and promotion from within.
