The Locksmith is required by law to be security-audited and registered with Alberta Justice and the Solictor General. This position is charged with the responsibility of providing a safe and secure environment for the University community at large. The Journeyperson locksmith provides continuous service (including the participation in standby on a rotating basis) ensuring that all emergency situations such as lost or stolen keys, break-ins, insecure doors, vandalism, etc., are dealt with in a timely manner. In addition to providing these services, it is the responsibility of the locksmith to manage and maintain a high security keying system for private organizations affiliated with the University of Alberta.
