About The Position

Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a full range of journey-level locksmith work to ensure the necessary security for University buildings and to meet applicable building and safety codes and regulations. The Locksmith position is primarily responsible for full-range of skilled locksmith work. Incumbents in this classification assist in the development of master key systems and electronic access control and are independently responsible for the implementation and maintenance of these programs. Incumbents in this classification also may provide instruction and lead direction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants. Facilities Management and Services (FMS) is a large, complex department consisting of approximately 150 employees working various shifts and providing diverse administrative and operational services campus wide.

Requirements

  • Progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills such as the equivalent to that acquired through completion of a locksmith's apprenticeship program.
  • Maintain a valid California Driver's License.
  • Completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver's Training course.
  • Pass a post-offer pre-employment physical examination.
  • Comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 17, 2017) as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed or certified in locksmithing.
  • Journey-level experience in the design, installation, programming and maintenance of Card Access and/or Key Watcher Asset Control Boxes.
  • Certified with journey level experience with Medeco Biaxial Key System.
  • Experience with key management software.
  • Experience working on a college campus.
