The Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) is seeking a Locksmith to work at the Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility. This role involves installing, repairing, and replacing various types of locks and locking devices, as well as performing preventative maintenance. The Locksmith will also be responsible for making new keys, maintaining records of locks and keys, and managing inventory of parts and equipment. In addition to locksmith duties, this position may also perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repairs in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, custodial, and groundskeeping areas. All hired applicants are required to attend 4 weeks of mandatory training through DYS, with the first week at Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility and the subsequent weeks at the Correctional Training Academy in Orient, Ohio. This training is paid for by the state and covers travel, lodging, and meals. DYS is a qualifying employer for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
