About The Position

Stake Center Locating is hiring entry-level Locate Technicians to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot, and mark the ground with paint and flags to promote damage prevention in the community. The company provides 100% paid, on-the-job training and the basic skills and equipment needed to perform the role. Technicians work outdoors in all weather, work independently, and solve problems quickly and accurately. The role requires a flexible schedule based on ticket and production loads, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, as well as responding to emergency calls during a scheduled on-call shift rotation.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Be willing to work outdoors in all weather and independently, and have the ability to problem-solve with speed and accuracy.
• Be able to walk up to 5 miles a day, 2–3 times a week.
• Be able to carry up to 5 pounds of electronic locating equipment for extended periods; lift objects up to 25 pounds or lift in excess of 75 pounds with tool aids.
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Be available for a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and scheduled on-call shifts as workload requires.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety.
• Use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets and email.
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine the best method and sequence for locating utilities.
• Use provided locate equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Troubleshoot and mark the ground with paint and flags.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations.
