Local Route Driver- Colfax, WA
About The Position
Empire Disposal, a Waste Connections Company, is hiring a Local CDL Garbage Truck Driver for residential and commercial rear-load garbage routes in Colfax, Washington. The work is labor-intensive and involves repeatedly getting in and out of the truck, manually collecting solid waste, loading it into a rear-load garbage truck, and transporting it to designated disposal facilities. The route averages approximately 45 hours per week. CDL-licensed drivers are paid $29.00 per hour; non-CDL drivers are paid $26.90 per hour and may receive CDL training. The position offers a Monday-through-Thursday schedule, typically 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with occasional overtime. Requirements
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement, at minimum.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
- At least 2 years of experience directly related to the stated duties and responsibilities.
- Basic knowledge of truck components to complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Previous waste industry experience is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Read route sheets or use a driver tablet and service each customer assigned by the dispatcher.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
- Perform physically demanding loading and unloading work, sometimes without helpers.
- Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
- Interact courteously with customers.
- Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
