About The Position
KOCO, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, is seeking a Local News Photographer to capture news in the field and bring it to viewers. The photographer spends several hours each day shooting, editing, and executing creative live shots, and also edits material for newscasts. The role requires current knowledge of modern television news production, a strong eye for video, collaboration, and consistently representing the station with high journalistic standards and professionalism. In-person attendance is required. This role reports to the News Director.
Requirements
- Training in video photojournalism.
- Professional or college experience in a newsroom.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
- Experience with ENG trucks.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to operate digital editing tools.
- Computer and software experience; knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
- Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
- In-person attendance is required.
Nice To Haves
- Related military experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, and packages for broadcast and online posting.
- Work with the Assignment Desk and reporters to cover daily stories.
- Shoot using assigned professional camera equipment.
- Edit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station.
- Gather video and still pictures for digital platforms.
- Work with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered.
- Work with producers to realize their creative vision using vivid video and natural sound.
- Coordinate incoming video elements from crews in the field.
- Use catalog systems to save, store, record, and locate necessary video.
- Produce and publish content to online platforms.
- Organize and maintain gear and equipment.
