About The Position

The News Photographer/Editor provides daily video coverage of news, sports, and feature stories on location, and photographs and edits news stories and other special projects for broadcast. The position requires strong videography and editing skills, field judgment, and the ability to meet newsroom deadlines while working under pressure. The role involves operating live ENG trucks and LiveU devices, as well as field lighting, audio, camera, and editing equipment. The position is described as an hourly, non-exempt experienced-level Photographer II role.

Requirements

• Proficiency in non-linear editing; WPLG uses Avid Newscutter/Media Composer.
• Excellent videography and editing skills.
• Experience with live ENG live trucks and operation of LiveU live devices, field lighting, audio equipment, and state-of-the-art editing and camera equipment.
• Good judgment when covering news stories in the field.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet newsroom deadlines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to travel out of town on assignment.
• Valid driver’s license, which must be maintained.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, investigative background check, employment and education verifications, and reference checks as a condition of an employment offer.

Nice To Haves

• At least 3 years’ experience in the mentioned photography, editing, live ENG, LiveU, lighting, audio, camera, and editing-equipment areas.

Responsibilities
