About The Position

Gulf Coast News in Fort Myers, Florida is hiring a Local News Photographer to capture events in the field and present them vividly to viewers. The photographer will spend several hours each day shooting, editing, and executing creative live shots, and will also edit material for newscasts. The ideal candidate is current with modern developments in the medium, has a strong eye for video, works effectively with others, and represents the station with high journalistic standards and professionalism. The position works with and reports to the Chief Photographer.

Requirements

Training in the art of video photojournalism.
Professional or college experience in a newsroom.
Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
Experience with ENG trucks.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Ability to operate digital editing tools.
Computer and software experience, including knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
Ability to manage the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.

Related military experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, and packages for broadcast and online platforms.
Work with the assignment desk and reporters to cover daily stories.
Shoot using assigned professional camera equipment.
Edit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station.
Gather video and still pictures for digital platforms.
Work with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered.
Work with producers to carry out their creative vision through vivid video and natural sound.
Coordinate incoming video elements from crews in the field.
Use catalog systems to save, store, record, and locate necessary video.
Produce and publish content to online platforms.
Maintain organization and ensure proper care and maintenance of gear and equipment.
