About The Position

The Local Division Manager, US is accountable for leading the Automation - Energy Industries business in the United States end-to-end, with full ownership for business performance, profitable growth, operational execution, customer outcomes, organization capability, integrity, and safety. The role requires a commercially strong, operationally disciplined, and people-centered business leader who can balance short-term performance delivery with long-term capability building, while leading through complexity and transformation. The work model for the role is hybrid. Based in either Houston, TX or Cleveland, OH. This role is contributing to the Automation, Energy Industries business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 15+ years of experience with strong commercial acumen, including market development, strategic customer engagement, pricing discipline, pipeline management, and margin improvement.
  • 3+ years with proven experience leading a sizeable business or business unit with P&L accountability.
  • Significant senior leadership experience in an industrial, automation, energy, process industries, technology, engineering, or project-based business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive profitable growth, operational performance, customer outcomes, and organization development.
  • Strong operational understanding, including project execution, service delivery, quality, productivity, forecasting, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Exposure to digital growth, AI-enabled productivity, automation tools, commercial excellence, or data-driven business management.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in process automation, energy industries, power generation, oil and gas, chemicals, hydrogen, CCS, nuclear, digital, cybersecurity, electrification, or related industrial markets is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Business leadership and P&L ownership: Owns end-to-end performance of the local division, including profitable growth, operational results, execution performance, cost discipline, and organization effectiveness. Translates HUB and Division priorities into clear local business plans, performance targets, operating rhythms, and execution actions.
  • Growth, market and customer leadership: Leads the local growth agenda by strengthening customer intimacy, protecting the installed base, expanding ABB’s, Automation Energy market position, and identifying new growth opportunities. Drives go-to-market effectiveness across key industries, accounts, channels, and growth segments.
  • Operational excellence and execution discipline: Ensures consistent delivery of high-quality products, systems, services, and project execution. Drives productivity, delivery performance, cost optimization, margin protection, and operational simplification.
  • Portfolio, digital and transformation leadership: Leads the local business through portfolio evolution, changing customer needs, and growth opportunities in automation, electrification, service, digital, cybersecurity, and energy transition-related segments. Supports development of differentiated offerings and capabilities that strengthen ABB’s relevance in priority markets.
  • People, culture and organization development: Builds, develops, and retains a high-performing leadership team and organization. Ensures the local division is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed to meet current and future business needs.
