About The Position
The Local Class A CDL Driver operates a tractor and flatbed trailer on regional routes from the Omaha, Nebraska domicile, delivering steel, including oversized and unusual loads. The role involves physically securing loads with chains, straps, and tarps, maintaining safe driving practices and equipment, completing required inspections and records, and communicating with supervisors, sales staff, and customers. Drivers are home every night and all weekend.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Current DOT medical card.
- Excellent driving record.
- Solid knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Experience securing different types of cargo, including oversized loads.
- Ability to chain, tarp, and secure heavy loads in any weather.
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.
- Accountability, integrity, and a safety-first mindset.
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years of driving experience.
- At least 1 year of flatbed experience.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor and flatbed trailer on regional routes, delivering steel, including oversized and unusual loads.
- Chain, strap, and tarp each load correctly.
- Check in and out with the supervisor each day for assignments.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain equipment.
- Keep accurate HOS logs, DVIRs, proof of delivery, and fuel receipts.
- Stay in contact with the supervisor, sales team, and customers.
- Report incidents or safety concerns promptly.
