About The Position

Ryder is hiring a local Class A CDL Company Driver in Austin, Texas. Drivers deliver auto-parts freight to surrounding areas, drive solo, and return home daily. The role uses day-cab tractors and 48- or 53-foot dry vans; drivers must be able to drive manual transmissions. Freight is no-touch. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the position and operates trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers earn $27 per hour and are paid weekly, with stated earnings of $1,080 or more per week and at least 40 hours per week. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, with a PM dispatch start time. The position includes paid training and a sign-on bonus of $750 at 30 days and $750 at 90 days. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical and a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Be able to drive manual transmissions.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
