About The Position

The Local and Tribal Health Liaison serves as the primary point of contact between the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) program and local and tribal health jurisdictions across Montana. This role involves providing timely, accurate, and coordinated communication on behalf of the PHEP team. The position leads the development, dissemination, and evaluation of annual and local tribal deliverables. It also offers technical assistance by answering jurisdiction questions directly or coordinating responses with subject matter experts, ensuring partners receive clear guidance to support preparedness planning, training, and grant requirements. The Liaison works closely with emergency preparedness staff to strengthen collaboration, support jurisdictional needs, and enhance statewide readiness through outreach, communication, and participation in preparedness meetings, workshops, exercises, and other assigned activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, emergency management, public administration, homeland security, or related field
  • Two years of job-related experience in health data systems or health education.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete the essential functions including work processing, database, e-mail, internet, and other computer programs.
  • Incident Command System (ICS) 100 or 200 Certifications

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience working in public health at a local or tribal level is preferred, but not required
