About The Position

This role oversees a team of accounting professionals, including accountants, accounts receivable clerks, payroll professionals, and accounts payable processors. The position reports to the Accounting Director and operates on a Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM schedule. Experience in Health and/or Grants Accounting is preferred. The core responsibilities involve ensuring the proper functioning and adherence to accounting systems, developing training materials and process improvements, compiling financial statements and reports, and producing budget and forecast reports for upper management. Additionally, the role involves coordinating audit schedules, verifying financial records, coaching and mentoring staff, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and external reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or 4 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of internal control procedures and management information systems.
  • Interpret and explain major business issues.
  • Knowledge of budgetary, accounting, and reporting systems.
  • Evaluate financial reports.
  • Eight years' directly related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that accounting systems are in place and followed by all members of the accounting department.
  • Develop training documentation, procedures, and programs to improve staff efficiency and processes.
  • Compile financial statements and reports.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and yearly budget and forecast reports for delivery to upper management.
  • Coordinate staff audit schedules and establish timelines for completion of achievable project goals.
  • Verify records of financial transactions with appropriate supporting documents.
  • Coach, mentor, and establish goals according to the development of professional staff.
  • Verify compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements with outside agencies.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
