About The Position

We are seeking a Lobby Visitor Access Specialist who will create a professional and welcoming first impression for visitors to the Laboratory. You will receive and register visitors, record visits and ensure all badges are issued according to security procedures. You will also work with a team of knowledgeable Security Specialists to assist in maintaining a high level of security as well enhancing the visitor entry experience.

Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent, and can demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English equivalent to a high school graduate.
  • Have excellent customer service skills with experience in a public facing position.
  • Have good organizational skills, follow through and interpersonal social skills.
  • Have computer software skills/experience ideally using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word Database entry, and proficient keyboarding speed and accuracy.
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lobby receptionist and visitor management access database skills.
  • Familiarity with the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) for validating clearances.
  • Able to problem solve and occasionally manage a high volume of visitors while remaining calm.
  • Experience interacting with and processing high profile visitors and sponsors.
  • Working knowledge of APL 's practices, procedures, facilities, services, and culture.
  • Hold an active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with staff in coordinating their meetings; Preregister and receive visitors, check identification, enter them in the Visitor Management system and activate their badge for the access control system; As needed, check visitor clearances in a DoD database, DISS and issue the applicable access level badge; Assist visitors in resolving clearance issues and connect with the Point of Contact (POC) at visitors arrival.
  • Work with the POC or Admin before the visit to streamline their visitors access by checking clearance status ahead of time and communicating any needed information and instruction; Handle meeting spreadsheets and preregister visitors in Passage Point. Compile monthly reports.
  • Monitor lobby emails responding to and handling meeting & visit notifications for the applicable entry location; Record and advise the Incoming Visitor Control Office of all VIP visitors preparing VIP Badges in advance as needed; Record and update notifications of visits and meetings on the Lobby Weekly Meetings spreadsheet; Relieve and help other Lobby VAS as needed.
  • Work a full-time schedule from Monday through Friday from 6:30 am - 3:00 pm with some flexibility as needed.
