About The Position

TruPartner Credit Union is seeking a Loan Documentation Specialist to support consumer lending. Reporting to the VP of Lending, this role serves as a final quality-control checkpoint after loans are approved and before they close. The specialist reviews loan applications and documentation, catches omissions and errors, and helps ensure accurate, complete loan closings before funds are disbursed to members. The role is based at the Main Office and serves all locations. It is 100% in-office. Core coverage is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM; the description notes that Saturday coverage is divided among the MSR team and manager and that the role has some Saturdays.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in banking, credit union operations, title companies, or consumer loan processing.
  • Hands-on experience processing loan collateral.
  • Experience handling lending-related insurance products.
  • Thorough understanding of credit union loan products and services, including associated loan documentation.
  • Solid understanding of collateral types and the documentation required to record and release liens.
  • Comprehensive understanding of lending-related insurance products.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Ohio Notary Public commission.

Responsibilities

  • Review consumer loan files initiated by MSRs before signing and identify or correct missing fields, unverified income, and formatting errors.
  • Coordinate with MSRs and branch teams to prepare complete, accurate documents for upcoming closings and member signatures.
  • Guide retail staff through complex consumer lending forms so they obtain the required signatures and avoid trailing-document omissions.
  • Provide MSRs with constructive feedback on file quality to help reduce recurring errors.
  • Ensure loans are scanned and archived for easy retrieval in the credit union's imaging system.
  • Assist the Loan Collateral Specialist with lien filings and releases, and provide backup during their absence.
  • Work with the Lending Operations Manager to improve lending-process efficiency.
  • Help optimize the functionality of the loan origination system.
  • Maintain electronic and paper loan files.
  • Organize member account and loan records and keep the file room up to date.
  • Assist with record-retention projects to support efficient audits and compliance.
  • Assist with notarization of documents.
  • Stay informed about changes to collection, collateral, and record-retention policies, procedures, and related legal requirements.
