About The Position

Coordinates and processes Federal Loans and Private Educational Loans, adhering to applicable federal, state, and university regulations. This role is responsible for processing all federal and private loan certifications, disbursements, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and regulations. The Coordinator will maintain and update databases, appeal agency denials, and counsel students, parents, and agencies regarding loan programs. Additionally, the role involves performing automated processes, preparing and disseminating data reports, and interacting with other university departments and external entities like lending institutions and student loan servicers. A key responsibility is expanding and coordinating the Entrance and Exit Counseling Programs. Other duties include back-up mail processing, supply management, front desk support, and reviewing reports.

Requirements

  • A high school degree/ GED with specialized courses in bookkeeping, typing, word processing, office procedures is required.
  • Three years of general secretarial experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment (e.g. telephone, computer, calculator and copier equipment, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, proofreading and organizational skills.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve by considering available information and recommending solutions.
  • Ability to utilize procedures manuals and guides to research regulations and error.
  • Ability to transcribe correspondence and enter data into records and logs with accuracy.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities, seeking direct regarding courses of action.
  • Ability to research and compile data.

Responsibilities

  • Processing all federal and private loan certifications, disbursements, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
  • Maintaining, updating, and tracking databases (in-house and outside agencies) for loan adjustments.
  • Appealing agency denials or over-awards of loans as requested; verifying data by phone and correspondence.
  • Counseling and corresponding with students, parents, and agencies concerning loan programs and pertinent issues.
  • Performing automated processes (i.e. send, receive, and post loan transmissions).
  • Preparing and disseminating data in the form of lists and reports (e.g., LT 6cr loan, entrance counseling, non-enrolled) as needed by the FAO or assigned by the Director.
  • Interacting with other departments of the University exchanging information relevant to loan processing.
  • Working closely with Accounts Receivable and Student Accounts to preserve/return accurate loan amounts.
  • Expanding and coordinating the Entrance and Exit Counseling Programs, informing students of requirements and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Serving as liaison between lending institutions, student loan servicers, and the Financial Aid Office.
  • Performing other related duties as required, including back-up mail processing, monitoring supply inventory, ordering loan supplies, providing front desk and office phone support, reviewing nightly reports, and preparing loan mailings.
