About The Position

The Loading, Shipping & Receiving Associate I is responsible for assembling packaging and building crating to prevent damage and protect windows/doors during shipment off site. This role involves receiving and reviewing paperwork, preparing packaging materials, and accurately documenting shipping information. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment, handle physical demands, and utilize various tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to visualize and determine appropriate package size.
  • Ability to safely operate forklift and scale equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks according to production requirements.
  • Ability to visually perceive scratches, irregularities, or other imperfections in materials.
  • Ability to comprehend written instructions, measurements, or coding spelled out on production paperwork/tags.
  • Ability to accurately complete the essential functions of this job on a continual basis in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16th inch.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as a staple gun, nail gun, table saw, chop saw, etc.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and decisions as required to complete job functions/tasks.
  • Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and supervisors/managers.
  • Ability to perform repetitive or short-cycle work.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress and/or tight deadlines.
  • Ability to willingly follow instructions both written and verbal.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble packaging and build crating to prevent damage and protect windows/doors during shipment.
  • Receive and review paperwork from the shipping office.
  • Pull appropriately sized cardboard, lumber, or other packaging materials.
  • Determine dimensions for crates and cut lumber to required lengths using a chop saw.
  • Retrieve order of window/door units from storage racks.
  • Load units onto a glass cart and transport to the packaging work area.
  • Remove labels from windows and set aside temporarily.
  • Assemble cartons or crates and secure them with a staple gun or nail gun.
  • Place product stickers on the outside of cartons/crates.
  • Mark cartons/crates with necessary shipping information.
  • Lift, weigh, and record information on shipping documents.
  • Move cartons/crates to the staging area and complete shipping paperwork.
  • Enter weight and number of pieces into the computer.
  • Contribute to a safe and drug-free workplace.
  • Meet quality standards.
