About The Position

The Loader supports the H&S Family of Bakeries Distribution team by loading and unloading products, selecting products for route drivers, counting inventory, and helping ensure accurate and efficient product handling. The role also involves completing paperwork, checking trailers, keeping the work area clean, and collaborating with team members. Loaders operate and maintain company equipment, including forklifts, and follow safety and hygiene standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. H&S Family of Bakeries includes Northeast Foods, H&S Bakery, and Schmidt Baking Co. The company operates a network of 10 bakeries and 30 distribution centers and serves customers including restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals, grocery stores, and universities.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to count and perform basic math.
Strong interpersonal abilities, with a focus on teamwork and collaborative problem-solving.
Flexible availability and willingness to work various shifts in support of the operation’s five-day-a-week schedule.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push and pull heavy wheeled equipment or carts, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods and maintain a normal range of motion in all extremities.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and crouch to access equipment, tools, or materials.
Ability to use arms, hands, and fingers to handle or operate machinery, tools, or controls.
Ability to perceive and respond promptly to visual and audible safety alerts and warnings.
Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, airborne particles, odors, and fumes.
Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work platforms as required.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods while using office equipment and computer systems.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and protective clothing for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with basic computer software, particularly spreadsheet tools, for inventory management.
Previous experience in a labor-intensive role; warehouse experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Load and unload products and bakery items safely to prevent damage.
Select and prepare products for dispatch according to route drivers’ schedules.
Conduct inventory counts to support accurate product tracking and management.
Complete load sheets, block sheets, and other paperwork accurately and neatly.
Check trailers, including sweeping them and checking for damage, and submit the information to the department manager.
Notify supervisors in advance of floor inventory levels of empty trays and other equipment.
Maintain efficiency and accuracy when allocating products to specific routes.
Keep the work area clean and orderly while following safety and hygiene standards.
Collaborate with team members to support a cohesive work environment.
Operate and maintain company equipment, including forklifts, safely and responsibly.
