About The Position

The Loader/Cart Associate provides SMART customer service by assisting customers with locating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise. They support checkout, fulfillment, and customer assistance needs throughout the store, ensuring customer and contractor orders are pulled, staged, and prepared accurately and efficiently. This role involves safely and effectively using power equipment and store technology to move, stage, and load merchandise, maintaining in-stock conditions through down stocking and replenishing, and supporting large order fulfillment while upholding product quality and accuracy. The associate is responsible for collecting carts and maintaining clean, organized, and safe work areas both inside the store and in the parking lot, identifying and reporting safety hazards, theft, and security concerns. They operate various store equipment as needed and communicate product information, features, warranties, and Lowe’s programs to customers, providing project guidance when necessary. Specific responsibilities for the Loader role include extending Pro Desk services by supporting Pro customer relationships from arrival to order completion, proactively engaging Pro customers, and remaining visible and available in the Pro loading area. This includes responding quickly to loading requests, ensuring efficient service for large or complex orders, building relationships with repeat Pro customers, and supporting enrollment in MyLowe’s Pro Rewards and Pro Credit. The role also ensures Pro Standards are maintained in the parking lot and under the Pro canopy and requires completion of power equipment and spotter training for safe and efficient loading practices, including using proper techniques based on order size, weight, and fulfillment needs. For the Garden Center, responsibilities include assisting customers and associates with loading products and completing orders, remaining visible and available in the Garden Center loading area, and completing required training. The associate will load customer vehicles using proper techniques and partner with the Garden Center Department Supervisor to ensure orders are staged and ready for pickup.

Requirements

• 6 Months Experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
• 6 Months Experience using common retail technology, such as smart phones and tablets
• Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED
• 6 Months Retail experience
• 6 Months Experience as a Loader at any home improvement or hardware retailer
• 6 Months Retail merchandising experience, including performing Zone Recovery, stocking, down stocking, facing/fronting product, pricing, maintaining signage, and housekeeping
• 6 Months Experience in any industry inspecting, carrying, loading, and unloading product or material in or out of vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Supports large order fulfillment while maintaining product quality and accuracy.
• Collects carts and helps maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas inside the store and parking lot.
• Identifies and reports safety hazards, theft, and security concerns to management and/or Asset Protection.
• Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department (e.g., Zebra phone, telephone, paging system, copiers, computers, CCTV surveillance system, key cutter, panel saw, paint mixer, flooring cutters, compacter baler).
• Communicates all stock, special order merchandise, product features, application, warranty, and Lowe’s program information to customers, while responding knowledgeably to customer and employee questions and providing project guidance when needed.
• Follows all Lowe’s safety policies and procedures, including proper use of power equipment, spotters and safety devices.
• Serves as a visible extension of the Pro Desk by supporting Pro customer relationships from arrival through order completion.
• Proactively engages Pro customers while assisting with loading, staging, and order fulfillment.
• Remains visible and available to support customers in the Pro loading area, including under the Pro canopy.
• Responds quickly to customer loading requests and helps ensure efficient service for large or complex orders.
• Builds relationships with repeat Pro customers and supports enrollment in MyLowe’s Pro Rewards and Pro Credit offerings.
• Ensures Pro Standards are maintained in parking lot and under Pro canopy.
• Completes required power equipment and spotter training to support safe and efficient loading practices.
• Loads customer vehicles using proper techniques based on order size, weight, and fulfillment needs.
• Ensures orders are loaded accurately while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
• Assists customers and associates with loading products and completing orders in the Garden Center.
• Remains visible and available to support customer needs throughout the Garden Center loading area.
