About The Position

The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Load Lead to join its fleet operations team at its Minneapolis production facility. The role oversees accurate and timely loading of newspaper carts, news and comic pallets, and other freight for distribution. It coordinates daily loading activities, supports team productivity, verifies shipment accuracy, and maintains efficient workflows to meet on-time delivery commitments. The Load Lead also helps foster a safe, organized, high-performing work environment and operational excellence throughout the loading process. This is a union position with a starting pay rate of $23.15 per hour. The work schedule requires third-shift hours, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment is preferred.
Ability to work a third-shift schedule, including overnights, weekends, and holiday shifts.
Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials weighing 25 pounds or more on a regular basis.
Strong mathematical aptitude to verify counts, quantities, and shipping information accurately.
Effective reading and comprehension skills to interpret shipping manifests, work instructions, and operational documentation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced production and distribution environment.
Reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employment visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Interpret and execute shipping manifests from Star Tribune production operations and other freight distribution channels to support timely, efficient loading and shipment.
Work with Dispatch, Post-Production, and departmental leadership to identify and resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, and manifest inconsistencies.
Coordinate with drivers and transportation partners to load products safely, accurately, and efficiently for distribution.
Maintain a clean, organized, safety-focused work environment and follow company policies and operational procedures.
