About The Position

The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Load Lead to join the fleet operations team at its Minneapolis production facility. The role oversees accurate, timely loading of newspaper carts, news and comic pallets, and other freight for distribution. The Load Lead coordinates daily loading activities, supports team productivity, ensures shipment accuracy, and maintains efficient workflows to meet on-time delivery commitments. The position helps foster a safe, organized, high-performing work environment and supports operational excellence throughout the loading process.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment is preferred.
• Ability to work a third-shift schedule, including overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials weighing 25 pounds or more on a regular basis.
• Strong mathematical aptitude to verify counts, quantities, and shipping information accurately.
• Effective reading and comprehension skills to interpret shipping manifests, work instructions, and operational documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced production and distribution environment.
• Reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and execute shipping manifests from Star Tribune production operations and other freight distribution channels to ensure timely and efficient loading and shipment of products.
• Work with Dispatch, Post-Production, and departmental leadership to identify and resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, and manifest inconsistencies.
• Coordinate with drivers and transportation partners to ensure products are loaded safely, accurately, and efficiently for distribution.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safety-focused work environment and follow company policies and operational procedures.
