About The Position

CBSL Transportation Service, Inc. is hiring a dispatcher to handle incoming and outgoing communication with customers, drivers, and internal departments. The role involves dispatching and planning drivers for a local intermodal/drayage operation, processing customer orders and pickup requests, tracing containers, and tracking shipments to support on-time performance. The ideal candidate is organized, able to multitask, and capable of addressing customer complaints and conflict professionally. Experience with rail, steamship, port, or freight-forwarder companies and familiarity with bookings and swings are desirable. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening. The position is located at 4750 S. Merrimac Ave., Chicago, IL 60638. The schedule is Monday through Friday on the day shift.

Requirements

At least 1 year of current dispatching experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Experience with live dispatch functions.
Knowledge and understanding of DOT, HOS, and FMCSA standards.

Nice To Haves

TMW or McLeod experience.
E-log, automated workflow, and form-messaging experience.
Tanker or ISO experience.
Experience with rail, steamship, port, or freight-forwarder companies and understanding of bookings and swings.

Responsibilities

Dispatch and plan drivers for a local intermodal/drayage operation.
Ensure customer requests are processed and received, including orders and pickup requests.
Trace containers on rail websites to verify locations, LFD, storage, and rail billing.
Build strong relationships with drivers and customers.
Track and trace shipments for on-time performance and communicate status to customers.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a customer-service-focused attitude.
Enter and update data accurately in company dispatch software.
Collaborate with other company departments.
Handle incoming and outgoing communications with customers, drivers, and internal departments.
Respond to customer complaints and handle conflict professionally and effectively.
