About The Position

CBSL Transportation Service, Inc. is hiring a dispatcher to support its local intermodal/drayage operation. The dispatcher handles incoming and outgoing communication with customers, drivers, and internal departments, plans and dispatches drivers, and tracks shipments to support on-time performance and customer service. The role requires strong organizational and multitasking skills, along with the ability to address customer complaints and manage conflict professionally and effectively. Experience with rail, steamship, port, or freight forwarder companies, including understanding bookings and swings, is ideal. The position is located at 4750 S. Merrimac Ave., Chicago, Illinois. The schedule is Monday through Friday on the day shift. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation, and pre-employment drug screening is required.

Requirements

At least 1 year of current dispatching experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Experience with live dispatch functions.
Tanker or ISO experience.
Knowledge and understanding of DOT, HOS, and FMCSA standards.

Nice To Haves

Experience with rail, steamship, port, or freight forwarder companies and understanding of bookings and swings.
TMW or McLeod experience.
E-log, automated workflow, and form messaging experience.

Responsibilities

Dispatch and plan drivers for a local intermodal/drayage operation.
Ensure customer requests are processed and received, including orders and pickup requests.
Trace containers on rail websites to verify locations, LFD, storage, and rail billing.
Build strong relationships with drivers and customers.
Track and trace shipments for on-time performance and communicate shipment status to customers.
Maintain a customer-service attitude and provide excellent service.
Enter and update data accurately in company dispatch software.
Work and collaborate with other company departments.
Handle incoming and outgoing communication with customers, drivers, and internal departments.
Respond to customer complaints and handle conflict professionally and effectively.
