About The Position

The Limited License Short-Term Residency at Community Health Connections (CHC) is a six-month professional development and skills-training program for international and limited-license dentists. Residents work as full-time dental assistants in a community health center, preparing to serve culturally diverse patients with clinically complex needs. They gain exposure to oral surgery, endodontics, fixed and removable prosthodontics, periodontal therapy, dental emergencies, and pain-control techniques. During months four through six, residents have limited opportunities to see patients as limited-license dentists under the direct supervision of attending dentists. The program aims for residents to demonstrate clinical development, professional leadership, and increased clinical confidence by its conclusion. After successful completion, a resident may be offered a position at CHC as a limited-license dentist or registered dental hygienist, depending on organizational needs. Residents are temporarily hired as full-time employees with benefits, and regular employment is evaluated after successful completion of the residency. Residents must fulfill a minimum of 40 hours per week for 12 weeks. Scheduled hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch.
