About The Position

The Living Donor Kidney Transplant Coordinator coordinates the evaluation process of potential living donors and works with the Medical & Surgical Directors for donor selection, evaluation, and management. The Living Donor Coordinator provides education regarding the donation process to potential donors and their family. Provides and maintains documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements. Participates in special projects that support community outreach and education of the general population regarding organ donation and transplantation. Works with the paired kidney exchanges and blood group incompatible programs as directed to coordinate organ donation exchanges. Participates in on-call activities. Also responsible for living donor post-donation follow-up in compliance with regulatory requirements; Coordinates and presents at the HLA, selection, and policy & procedure meetings. Other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care or dialysis experience is required.
  • Associate's degree in Nursing with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required or Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience relevant to Nephrology/Transplant sub-specialties is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate working with potential kidney donors, surgeons, medical, and non-medical personnel directly and indirectly involved in patient care.
  • Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) certification, Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN), or Acute/Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) is preferred.
