About The Position

The Livestock Handler unloads sows from trucks and moves and handles livestock within barn and pen areas. The role includes identifying and monitoring truck conditions, tracking sow loads in SAP, and cleaning the full barn using chemicals and a high-power hose. Humane animal handling is critical, and animals must be treated with respect. Candidates must be at least 18 years old. External candidates must pass a pre-employment, post-offer drug screen, physical, and background check. Applicants must be eligible to work in the country where the job is located without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• A general understanding of animal behavior is required.
• Excellent attendance and performance record required.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to walk and/or stand throughout the shift and bend and/or reach throughout the shift.
• Ability to hand grip and lift up to 50 lbs, push 30 lbs, and pull 60 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Past animal-handling experience strongly preferred.
• General computer knowledge preferred.
• SAP knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload animal trucks and sows.
• Move and handle livestock within barn and pen areas, using raddle paddles as required and treating animals humanely.
• Identify and monitor truck conditions.
• Track sow loads in SAP.
• Clean the barn area using a high-power hose and chemicals.
• Perform responsibilities safely and efficiently.
• Comply with GMPs, USDA regulations, and safety rules.
