About The Position

This position includes residence in a private, self-contained apartment on site. The apartment is its own separate unit, fully independent from the members' living space, so you have your own home and privacy when you're off the clock. Living on site is a condition of employment. You'll help members build connections, grow their skills, and live the lives they choose. That means modeling healthy relationships, communicating effectively, and encouraging independence and self-determination every day. You'll help maintain a safe, supportive home where each person is treated with dignity and respect, and where their interests, culture, and needs come first. The Live-In Flex Direct Support Professional (Live-In Flex DSP) provides direct support across the Mechanic Falls and South Paris residential homes, flexing a 40-hour weekly schedule to meet each program’s coverage needs. This is a live-in position: residing in the designated onsite apartment at Sunrise Drive as a condition of employment. The role of the Live-In Flex DSP is to support members within Waypoint to be connected to others by modeling healthy relationships, engaging in effective communication, and supporting independence — improving skills, promoting self-determination, encouraging personally satisfying lifestyles, and fostering growth to the greatest extent possible. The Live-In Flex DSP maintains a safe and supportive environment in which members are treated with dignity and respect, and supports the interests, culture, and needs of the people we serve. The Live-In Flex DSP works successfully within a team and professionally represents Waypoint in the community, with parents and guardians, and within each member’s residence, exemplifying professional values, ethics, responsibility, and confidentiality.

Requirements

Experience in direct support or caregiving, with preference for one or more of the following credentials: PSS, CNA, CRMA, or DSP certification
Flexibility and reliability to adapt your schedule across two programs
Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
A genuine commitment to person-centered support and helping others thrive
High School Diploma or GED.
Must become DSP, CRMA, and Safety Care certified as a primary responsibility of the position.
Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence and a clean driving record.
Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
The ability to learn beginner-level Information Technology skills.

Responsibilities

Provide flex coverage across the Mechanic Falls and South Paris homes based on program and scheduling needs, working varying shifts and days as assigned to meet the 40-hour weekly schedule.
Reside in the designated onsite apartment at Sunrise Drive in accordance with the separate housing agreement.
Develop a rapport with members and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship.
Provide support and guidance for members during skills-building activities.
Implement individual treatment plans and positive support plans for members.
Encourage self-help skill building by supporting members with daily living activities, including preparing meals, maintaining a clean and healthy environment, and assisting with personal hygiene.
Mentor healthy eating choices, activities that enhance physical fitness, and overall health and wellness choices.
Transport members in approved vehicles as activities and/or medical appointments require.
Exercise sound judgment to ensure the safety and welfare of members. Notify the House Manager on duty and/or the Workforce Manager of any situation developing or occurring in the home that could negatively impact the home’s operation or a member’s welfare and safety.
Respect each member’s right to privacy and confidentiality.
Ensure that all medications are passed in a safe manner.
Manage member and agency funds by accurately recording expenditures as required.
Understand and comply with licensing requirements, MaineCare requirements, Person-Centered Planning requirements, and all of Waypoint’s policies and procedures.
Collect accurate and timely data, including updates to member progress notes, treatment plans, and positive support plans, daily or more often as outlined in the plan and as required to track progress toward established goals, objectives, and outcomes.
Follow the work schedule, demonstrate consistent attendance, and accurately record hours worked.
Follow mandated reporter guidelines regarding reportable events.
Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with all staff, demonstrating a willingness to resolve conflicts quickly and completely.
Operate as part of a team, accepting direction, constructive feedback, and information from the House Manager on duty, the Workforce Manager, and the team.
Maintain all required certifications for the Direct Support Professional position.
Attend and participate in all required staff meetings and trainings.
Ensure a clean and orderly residence, implementing all cleaning routines and checklists, and independently initiate household maintenance and upkeep as necessary.
Follow all agency safety standards and procedures, and alert the House Manager to safety and/or maintenance needs per internal Maintenance Department protocols.
Follow all transportation policies, including identifying any maintenance concerns with vehicles.
Other duties as assigned.
