About The Position

Advanced Systems Group, LLC is hiring a Live Broadcast Systems Engineer to support a client’s newly built, world-class broadcast and radio facility. The facility supports live radio and broadcast-level video production, with four radio studios and a dedicated sound stage, and uses modern IP media infrastructure alongside traditional baseband systems. The engineer will help maintain reliable, resilient systems for high-visibility, always-on live productions, partnering closely with the facility’s operations team. This is a senior-level or Engineer in Charge-level role for someone with experience owning and operating a permanent broadcast facility and working across both audio and video systems. The engineer will provide senior escalation support, lead preventive maintenance and risk identification, investigate complex faults, maintain configuration backups and equipment baselines, and drive vendor cases through resolution. The role also includes detailed documentation, service restoration, facility infrastructure upkeep, and support for integration and remediation projects. The position is full-time, permanent, and on-site in Culver City, California, with regular local travel to a secondary site in Marina del Rey. On-call and after-hours availability is required as needed.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as an Engineer in Charge or in a similar senior engineering role within a built, permanent broadcast facility.
  • Broadcast or streaming experience.
  • Comprehensive technical proficiency across live broadcast systems, including SDI, SMPTE ST 2110, Dante, AES67, MADI, PTP timing, NMOS control, camera robotics, broadcast cameras, LED walls, and video switchers; candidates need not be experts in every protocol but must be able to diagnose issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Deep broadcast engineering experience across both audio and video systems, including troubleshooting complex live systems from application layer through physical layer.
  • Strong, repeatable testing and fault-isolation methodology.
  • Understanding of coordinated downtime and on-air safety in live environments.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and recommend process improvements within the role’s scope.
  • Ability to manage competing maintenance priorities without compromising operational safety.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills, including incident reports, MOPs, run books, and user-facing guides.
  • Strong communication skills with operational peers and manufacturers during case resolution.
  • Organization and accountability in managing vendor relationships, open cases, maintenance windows, and asset-condition records.
  • Comfort working in a highly matrixed environment where multiple teams contribute to a production.
  • Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and ability to travel locally between Culver City and Marina del Rey.
  • Ability to commute to and work on site.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AVB.
  • Ability to perform in-situ Layer 1 repairs for common cable types, including CAT 6A, 12G SDI, and single-pair audio, without calling out an integrator.
  • Experience scoping integration and remediation projects for management approval.
  • Experience with Providius and Bridge Technologies monitoring tools.
  • Working knowledge of Lawo Power Core and UHD Core DSP configuration, operation, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support in Culver City and travel regularly to the nearby secondary site in Marina del Rey.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues beyond the operations team’s standard tier 1 and tier 2 troubleshooting.
  • Lead preventive maintenance and identify risks across audio and video broadcast and streaming systems.
  • Investigate complex issues through extended testing and engagement with manufacturers, including RMA processes.
  • Develop and manage configuration backups and equipment baselines for critical systems.
  • Schedule and execute preventive maintenance around the live broadcast calendar.
  • Document and maintain service histories, run books, and a standing maintenance calendar.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient machine-room infrastructure and cabling.
  • Troubleshoot and restore service for SDI, IP media including ST 2110, Dante, AES67, MADI, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Use systematic testing to isolate problems from the application layer through the physical layer.
  • Own manufacturer case resolution, manage vendor relationships, and drive issues to successful outcomes.
  • Produce incident reports and documentation that help operational teams resolve or avoid common issues.
  • Identify recurring issue patterns and develop remediation projects to improve reliability.
  • Scope and support integration and remediation projects alongside client engineers and system integrators.
  • Coordinate with specialized teams, such as network engineering, on issues outside the role’s direct scope.
