About The Position

The Broadcast Systems Engineer designs, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots the technical systems supporting Gateway Church’s broadcast and live production environment, including audio, video, lighting, controls, rigging, LED displays, and related networks. The position serves as the point engineer for AVLC systems at the broadcast campus, including stage-design infrastructure at the Southlake campus, while standardizing systems and providing hands-on support across the broader region. The engineer partners with Central Live Production staff, campus teams, and central AVL discipline managers to keep systems reliable, current, and scalable. On-site and on-call support is provided during services, events, and conferences as needed. The role is expected to maintain strong working knowledge across audio, video, lighting, and control systems; perform routine and preventative maintenance; diagnose first-line faults and escalate with a clear account of testing already completed; and keep local system documentation, patch files, and show files current. The employee participates in systems-engineer training and maintains the competence level agreed for the role. As a Gateway Church team member, the position is expected to support, recruit, and develop Serve Team members and serve alongside the broader team as ministry and organizational needs arise. Other duties may be assigned. Employment requires that the employee be a member of Gateway Church or become a member upon employment. Gateway Church states that it does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other characteristics protected by law as applicable to churches, and that it does discriminate on the basis of religion.

  • Strong technical knowledge of broadcast, audio, video, and lighting system design, wiring, and signal flow.
  • Strong working knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems, live-production workflow, and the engineering needed to troubleshoot and keep systems operational.
  • Ability to independently maintain, support, and troubleshoot AVL systems and recognize when a fault requires an engineer.
  • Willingness to be trained and assessed to an agreed competence standard and keep that standard current as systems change.
  • In-depth knowledge of rigging and safety practices.

  • Standardize system configurations across campuses so equipment and Team Members are interchangeable between rooms.
  • Support technical build-outs and upgrades at the broadcast campus and assist with new campus launches.
  • Collaborate with Live Production team members and broadcast campus Live Production staff on system enhancements and requested changes.
  • Partner with the Central Lighting, Video, and Audio Managers on discipline standards and equipment specifications.
  • Provide on-site and on-call technical support during weekend and mid-week services, events, special events, and conferences to address urgent broadcast system issues.
  • Maintain working knowledge of audio, video, lighting, and control systems at the assigned location, beyond only the discipline operated.
