About The Position

Garden State Athletic Network (GSAN) enhances the experience of student-athletes, fans, and communities by providing high-quality live streaming services for sporting events and major gatherings across New Jersey. As an official NFHS Network Affiliate, GSAN serves as a vital link in the premier destination for high school sports, leveraging a national platform while maintaining local roots. This role is leadership-focused, responsible for supervising the technical and creative success of broadcasts, overseeing the end-to-end production process from gear transport to managing on-site personnel, and maintaining stream integrity. It's ideal for an experienced media professional with strong problem-solving skills and a background in live sports.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Sports Media, or a related field (or High School Diploma with significant relevant experience).
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with A/V equipment.
  • 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Expert knowledge of audio/video studio equipment and troubleshooting computer issues.
  • Proficiency in YouTube Studio, OBS, vMix, Blackmagic ATEM, TrackWrestling/FloArena, and Bitfocus Companion.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Must not actively work for or contract with other media organizations providing exclusive interscholastic sports streaming within New Jersey.
  • Ability to lift and move A/V equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Willing to travel to various schools throughout the coverage area within New Jersey.
  • Flexible and willing to work weekends and weekday evenings during the academic year.
  • Availability for weekday games starting as early as 3:00 PM and weekend games starting as early as 9:00 AM.
  • Typically available 90 minutes prior to the start of the event (call time).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise on-site Broadcast Technicians, assigning roles and providing clear direction.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during events, communicating professionally with school officials, athletic organizations, and facility staff.
  • Coordinate with third-party syndication partners during live broadcasts.
  • Manage the transport of equipment between storage and venues; oversee the setup and strike of cameras, computers, audio gear, and switchers.
  • Contribute directly to the broadcast by operating cameras or managing graphics and on-stream scoreboards.
  • Monitor stream health and proactively troubleshoot equipment or feed issues.
