About The Position

LoanMart provides fast, professional assistance to financially stressed or credit-challenged borrowers. Our place in the community has been built over twenty-five years, growing from a family-owned single storefront in Van Nuys into the largest auto title lender in California. The Litigation Specialist is responsible for directly supporting the Legal Collections Department while collaborating closely with the General Counsel and the Legal and Compliance Departments. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the legal workflow of the loan litigation process. The Litigation Specialist will need to manage cases from pre-litigation through judgment and execution of the judgment. This role will involve some travel for court appearances at trials, settlements, or hearings. The role will also involve interaction with customers and/or opposing counsel.

Requirements

  • Understanding of collections, small claims, civil, and consumer litigation.
  • Understanding of FDCPA and TCPA.
  • Strong spreadsheet and web-based skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work set account volume schedules while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Intermediate PC skills; ability to work with multiple platforms.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in a litigation or legal collections support role.
  • Reliable high-speed internet, secure Wi-Fi, and a stable power source to prevent disruptions.
  • Secure, private workspace suitable for company equipment that is free of interruptions and background noise.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow all security protocols.
  • Ability and consent to participate in virtual meetings and remote monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and track litigated files, including but not limited to contested, title, mediated, and bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Assist with drafting complaints, limited civil, and small claims documents.
  • Draft motions, default judgments, writs of execution, abstracts, garnishments, levies, settlements, and stipulations.
  • Assist In-house and outside counsel in preparing cases.
  • Prepare for trial by organizing case materials (exhibits) and conducting research to be presented.
  • Answer telephones and transfer calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Travel as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
