About The Position

Martenson Hasbrouck & Simon LLP (“MHS”) is a national law firm focusing on labor and employment defense and business litigation. MHS is based in Atlanta, with additional offices in Dallas, Chicago, New York, Orange County, Sacramento, and San Diego. MHS is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and proactive full-time Paralegal/Legal Assistant for our Dallas office. Candidate must have strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail. Candidate should have knowledge of state and federal court e-filing systems (Pacer, etc.). Candidate should have a working understanding of legal concepts and terminology, ability to follow instructions, prioritize workload, and work equally well in an independent or team environment. Candidate must have Microsoft Office experience. A candidate who is bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. This position will require the successful candidate to report to the office to work in person.

Requirements

  • Microsoft Office experience
  • 2+ years of related legal experience
  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate

Responsibilities

  • Calculating, calendaring, and monitoring litigation and administrative deadlines
  • Organizing and maintaining electronic files for threatened litigation, administrative charges, and lawsuits
  • Preparing, revising, proofreading, and formatting pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Corresponding with courts, clients, local counsel, and opposing counsel
  • Managing document productions
  • Filing in both state and federal courts and with administrative agencies
  • Assisting in preparation for depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, and hearings
  • General office coordination including preparing expense reports, processing incoming and outgoing mail, arranging attorney travel, coordinating office meetings, monitoring and ordering supplies, and assisting with new employee onboarding.
