About The Position

As a Legal Consultant, you will work within the Litigation Department, which was the recipient of the 2025 Canadian Bar Association – Litigation Lawyers (CBA) and Mondaq’s Legal Team of the Year award. You will represent Beneva’s affiliated companies before various judicial, administrative, and arbitration bodies. Your primary responsibility will be managing damage insurance litigation files. In close collaboration with operational sectors, you will be involved in recovery files and defense cases. You will also handle various civil and commercial litigation matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.).
  • Member of the Bar of Quebec.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in litigation, particularly in damage insurance.
  • Experience as a litigator with proven ability to express oneself and defend client interests in court.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French.
  • Functional command of spoken and written English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in civil and commercial liability.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Beneva’s affiliated companies before the courts.
  • Manage litigation files across different judicial districts, including drafting notices and judicial proceedings, conducting examinations, case management conferences, amicable settlement conferences, and trials.
  • Advise Beneva’s affiliated companies and their representatives on legal matters, provide recommendations, and issue various legal opinions.
  • Participate in relevant committees.
  • Maintain and share knowledge regarding legislation, proposed legislation, regulations, judicial decisions, quasi-judicial decisions, applicable financial sector standards, and doctrine related to insurance.
