Position: We are seeking a Litigation Docket Clerk with 2-4 years of experience to support our litigation team by managing case schedules, court deadlines, and filings across multiple jurisdictions. This role is critical to ensuring the accurate tracking, calendaring, and monitoring of all litigation deadlines in the Circuit Court of Cook County, surrounding Illinois county courts, and federal courts. The environment is fast‑driven and deadline‑driven, requiring exceptional accuracy, responsiveness, and sound judgment. About the practice: LP’s Litigation group handles a wide range of business disputes and commercial litigation, including real estate litigation, debtor-creditor disputes, finance and bankruptcy litigation, labor and employment disputes, insurance coverage disputes, and professional liability litigation. Clients also turn to us for strategic advising built around their business objectives. Responsibilities

  • Monitors, reviews, and responds to emails directed to the Docket mailbox, ensuring all requests are addressed accurately and within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Enters, updates, and maintains case information in the docketing software, including calculating and calendaring deadlines in accordance with applicable court rules and procedures.
  • Ensures all relevant pleadings, orders, and correspondence are properly attached to docket entries and appropriately linked within the Document Management System.
  • Serves as a point of contact for attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff regarding case status and docketing inquiries, including direct communication with courts and agencies as needed.
  • Performs in‑person court and agency runs to execute filings, obtain copies of documents not available online, and process filing fees and costs; follows up with attorneys to confirm outcomes and next steps.
  • Handles electronic filings using public access court websites, PACER, and File & Serve, ensuring compliance with jurisdiction‑specific filing requirements.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve docketing policies, procedures, forms, and workflows, and recommends enhancements to support accuracy, efficiency, and service to timekeepers.
  • Provides backup support to the Litigation Support Specialist and assists with overflow or coverage as needed.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
