About The Position

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Litigation Docket Clerk to support our litigation practice firmwide, serving as an integral part of our team. This position can reside in any of the following offices: Boston, Century City, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Francisco, Silicon Valley (Palo Alto) or Washington D.C. with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Flexibility to work overtime required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant litigation calendaring/docketing experience desired, preferably in a large law firm.
  • An understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures and familiarity with court filings and general rules of court for processing pleadings at the federal, state, and county level strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong proofreading skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software programs.

Nice To Haves

  • CompuLaw or comparable docketing software a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the firm’s docket system for litigation lawyers practicing in multiple courts and jurisdictions
  • Obtains filing information from court clerks and online dockets
  • Identifies pertinent deadlines and prepares master calendar of due dates for distribution to lawyers and staff
  • Research questions from attorneys, paralegals and/or secretaries regarding deadlines, calculations of deadlines, local rules, etc.
  • Responds to requests regarding calendared events, pleadings, and court procedures and modifications to compliance dates on the docket calendar.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
