About The Position

Sherwood & Truitt Law Group LLC, a boutique litigation firm in Garden City, New York, is seeking a driven, talented full-time associate attorney with comprehensive civil litigation experience. The role offers an opportunity to develop litigation skills, work on meaningful cases, and grow alongside experienced legal professionals in a collaborative environment. Experience handling commercial, contractual, and/or real estate disputes is preferred but not required. Flexible work-from-home options are available.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Active admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Experience with New York state and/or federal court procedures.
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a strong team player.
Interested in developing business.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and case management software.

Nice To Haves

Three or more years of civil litigation experience is preferred.
Experience handling commercial, contractual, and/or real estate disputes.

Responsibilities

Manage and litigate civil cases across a variety of legal matters.
Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and legal memoranda.
Conduct depositions, client interviews, and witness examinations.
Perform legal research and case analysis to develop effective litigation strategies.
Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and oral arguments.
Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex litigation matters.
Maintain accurate and current billing records.
