About The Position

Maron Marvel has an immediate opening for an Associate to join its Philadelphia office and General Liability & Casualty Defense Practice Group. The role focuses on personal injury claims involving chemical exposures and premises liability. The firm represents Fortune 500 companies as national, regional, and trial counsel in mass tort defense and other liability-related matters. Candidates should be experienced civil litigators with strong case-management, research, writing, negotiation, and litigation skills, and a commitment to exceptional client service.

Requirements

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
• 3–7 years of civil litigation and General Liability experience in both state and federal courts.
• Familiarity with risk transfer through contractual indemnification and insurance coverage provisions in contracts.
• Ability to review and understand medical records and scientific literature.
• Ability and desire to proactively manage a large caseload from start to finish.
• Strong work ethic and ability to self-manage and work in a team environment.
• Strong research ability and written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
• Desire to deliver exceptional client service and contribute to continued client development.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage cases from start to finish in state and federal courts.
• Draft pleadings, written discovery, and motions, and conduct legal research.
• Communicate with clients frequently and provide case reporting.
• Prepare comprehensive legal analyses, case evaluations, and strategy recommendations.
• Coordinate and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Attend depositions, court hearings, and mediations.
• Prepare for and attend trials.
