About The Position

The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services is seeking an experienced leader to manage a busy store in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role involves managing all aspects of store operations, maintaining a strong leadership presence, supervising personnel, and contributing to the department's service-focused mission by providing superior customer service. The position requires managing cash control, maintaining inventory reports, prioritizing and adjusting schedules, and evaluating employee performance.

Requirements

  • Experience managing a fast paced retail store.
  • Capable of bringing out the best in their employees.
  • Ability to ensure that customers receive exceptional service.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Successfully pass a background check.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule Monday - Saturday between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the operations of a State Liquor Store.
  • Maintain a strong leadership presence in the store.
  • Supervise all store personnel.
  • Contribute to the department's service-focused mission by providing superior customer service.
  • Perform cash control duties.
  • Maintain inventory reports.
  • Prioritize, plan, and adjust schedules and maintain employee leave and payroll records.
  • Evaluate employee performance.
  • Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Ensures that there is an adequate supply of materials available. Orders, receives, inspects, and stores equipment, merchandise, commodities, materials, and/or supplies.
  • Conducts regular and/or spot check inventories of merchandise, supplies, or equipment.
  • Sets up and closes cash registers and prepares deposits.
  • Resolves potential confrontational issues appropriately when dealing with intoxicated individuals, shoplifters, etc.
  • Verifies that cash intake matches sales and inventory activity.
  • Receives and records cash payments; processes related paperwork.
  • Displays new items and existing stock.
  • Assists customers in finding products, making selections and purchasing items.
  • Receives and fills liquor orders for licensees and customers as required.
  • Gathers data, prepares reports or summarizes information.
  • Ensures staff is trained to prohibit sales to minors.
